Missing Values in a Relational Data Base
نویسنده
چکیده
Although missing (or null) values are found in most data bases they are not formally recognized by existing DBMS. The correct manipulation of those values is then left to the applications programs. This paper extends and formalizes a model suggested by Codd (4) for the explicit recognition of missing values by the relational algebra. It also explores the implications of the model and discusses useful applications.

A New Algorithm to Impute the Missing Values in the Multivariate Case
There are several methods to make inferences about the parameters of the sampling distribution when we encounter the missing values and the censored data. In this paper, through the order statistics and the projection theorem, a novel algorithm is proposed to impute the missing values in the multivariate case. Then, the performance of this method is investigated through the simulation studies. ...
متن کاملPerformance evaluation of different estimation methods for missing rainfall data
There are numerous methods to estimate missing values of which some are used depending on the data type and regional climatic characteristics. In this research, part of the monthly precipitation data in Sarab synoptic station, east Azerbaijan province, Iran was randomly considered missing values. In order to study the effectiveness of various methods to estimate missing data, by seven classic s...
متن کاملRelational Model and Missing Information
This paper examines possibilities offered by relational model when using missing information. The overview is conducted and possibilities which occur in practial use were analyzed. The use of predicates in which missing values occur has also been analyzed. Possible effects on system performance have been indicated.
متن کاملTreatment of Missing Values for Association Rules
Abs t r ac t . Agrawal et al. [2] have proposed a fast algorithm to explore very large transaction databases with association rules [1]. In many real world applications data are managed in relational databases where missing values are often inevitable. We will show, in this case, that association rules algorithms give bad results because they have been developed for transaction databases where ...
متن کاملMissing Value Imputation Method Based on Density Clustering and Grey Relational Analysis
In the computer-aided medical diagnosis, the problem of missing attribute values in many medical data sets brings a great challenge to data mining. To solve the problem, this paper proposes a method based on density clustering and grey relational analysis. It provides an effective solution for missing medical data. The method uses the characteristic and degree of data samples dynamic relation a...
